Submit a Story to Cycladic Spaces
Cycladic Spaces is a Greek-Australian travel and culture publication founded by Tina Benias. We cover Greek travel for Australians, the Greek diaspora in Australia, and everything in between. If you have a story that fits, we’d love to hear from you.
What we cover
Greek-Australian business openings. New Greek restaurants, bakeries, delis, shops, wine bars, event spaces. Especially independents. We wrote about The Greek Warehouse opening in Findon the week the news dropped.
Greek artists touring Australia. Music, film, theatre, comedy, DJs. See our current running list of Greek singers touring Australia 2026 and 2027.
Greek community events. Festivals, panigiria, church events open to the public, cultural launches, exhibitions.
Greek-Australian creators and professionals. Chefs, designers, writers, academics, sportspeople doing something worth sharing. Think our profile of Melbourne chef Philip Vakos on MasterChef Greece.
Greek travel news. Airline routes, visa changes, EES/ETIAS, ferry updates, opening dates for hotels or museums in Greece.
Cultural news out of Greece with an Aussie angle. The Met returning Greek antiquities, the Elgin Marbles debate, Greek Orthodox calendar events, national holidays.
What we don’t cover
Product placement disguised as editorial. If it’s an ad, we’ll consider it under our advertising options, not the editorial pipeline.
Personal milestones (weddings, engagements, birthdays) unless there’s a broader community story attached.
Political commentary on Greek domestic politics.
AI-generated content. If your pitch reads like it was written by ChatGPT, we’ll pass. We can tell.
Anything that could appear unchanged on Lonely Planet or Santorini Dave. That’s not our voice.
How to pitch
Email info@cycladicspaces.com.au with the subject line format:
PITCH, [Story angle in six words or fewer]
Examples of subject lines that get opened:
PITCH, New Greek bakery opening Marrickville
PITCH, Anastasios Rammos touring three Aussie cities
PITCH, Greek Orthodox Easter service Adelaide
PITCH, Aussie chef wins Michelin star in Athens
In the body of the email, include:
The story in one paragraph. Who, what, where, when, why it matters to Greek Australians.
Dates. Opening date, tour dates, event date, or embargo date if there is one.
Two or three high-resolution images. Attach or link. Landscape orientation preferred. Include credit and any restrictions.
A contact. Yours or your client&rsquo>s. Phone number and email. We may want to interview.
Any assets we might link to. Ticket page, booking page, business website, Instagram.
Do NOT attach a PDF media release as the entire pitch. Paste the key facts into the email body. Attach the release as a secondary reference if you must.
Turnaround and what happens next
We read every pitch, usually within 48 to 72 hours. If it’s a fit, you’ll hear back with a rough publication timing and any follow-up questions. If it’s not a fit, we’ll say so, briefly. Radio silence usually means we saw it but couldn’t find an angle. Feel free to nudge once after a week.
Time-sensitive news (openings this week, tour announcements) gets fast-tracked. Give us as much notice as you can.
Editorial standards
We fact-check. We prefer primary sources over aggregated news. If we quote you, we’ll show you the quote before publication. If we cover your business, we may include an affiliate link where relevant, disclosed in the piece.
We do not publish paid editorial disguised as news. If you want a sponsored post, that’s a different conversation, and it will be labelled clearly as such.
Where your story will appear
Cycladic Spaces reaches Australians planning Greek trips, the Greek-Australian diaspora, and readers globally. Our travel content ranks for head terms including “travel to Greece from Australia,” “best time to visit Greece” and the destination guides for the individual islands. Our diaspora and news content is indexed in Google News. We’re also syndicated across our newsletter (Tiny Postcards from Greece) and social channels.
Advertising and sponsored content
Separate from editorial. See our advertise page for rates, placements, and case studies.

Common questions from pitchers
Do you cover interstate news, or Melbourne only?
National. We cover Greek stories from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin. If it’s a Greek-Australian story, it’s in scope regardless of postcode.
Will you cover my Greek Orthodox church event?
If it’s open to the public and has a cultural or community significance beyond the parish, yes. Regular Sunday services, no. Panigiria, major feast days, community concerts, name day festivities, absolutely.
What about non-Greek businesses selling Greek products?
Case-by-case. A café doing a Greek Easter menu is fair game. A generic Mediterranean restaurant that added feta to its menu, probably not.
Do you accept guest posts?
Not currently. We commission and write in-house to keep the voice consistent. That may change.
Can I pitch on behalf of a client?
Yes. Say so in the email so we know the relationship. PR-agency pitches are welcome as long as the story is real.
What if my story is confidential until a launch date?
Say “EMBARGOED until [date and time]” in the subject line and the first sentence. We honour embargoes.
Can I include a link to my Instagram?
Yes. Include the handle. We may link if the coverage warrants it.
