Marketing for Greek Hotels That Want More Than an OTA Listing

A collection of guides for Greek hoteliers who are done paying 20% commissions and ready to build a real brand.

Why this exists

Cycladic Spaces is a Greek-Australian travel publication. We spend our days writing to Australian travellers about where to go in Greece, where to eat, where to stay. Which means we spend a lot of time thinking about the other side of that same conversation. How Greek hotels actually get in front of the right guests. How they fill the shoulder weeks in May, June, September and October. How they earn direct bookings that do not have a Booking.com bite taken out of them.

This corner of the site is where we write about that.

Who this is for

Independent Greek hotels. Boutique guesthouses. Family-run tavernas with rooms upstairs. The four-key stone villa on Sifnos. The design hotel in Athens. The Ionian island resort that is packed in July and echoes in October. If you own or run a Greek property and you are trying to do more than survive OTA season, this is written for you.

What we cover

Direct bookings and how to earn them. Influencer marketing without wasting the budget. Filling the shoulder season with the right audience. Getting found in AI search and large language models (ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews are how a lot of travellers pick where to stay now). Turning first-time guests into repeat guests. Brand voice for Greek hotels that do not want to sound like every other Greek hotel.

Who is behind this

Cycladic Spaces is a Greek-Australian travel publication founded by Tina Benias. We work with a small number of Greek hospitality brands on marketing strategy, content, SEO and audience growth. We do not work with Santorini or Mykonos, ethically, because we believe those two islands are already over-loved. We do work with independent hotels on quieter islands and mainland regions that deserve more of the pie.
